STANDARD MODEL RELASE

The Standard Model release covers shoots where the photographer is able to use the images for portfolio purposes only. So you would use this release for a standard photo shoot, where the client is allowing you to use the images for portfolio needs, but not commercial purposes.

It also covers "model" or TPF shoots where you are effectively compensating the client for being able to use their images for portfolio purposes only. So again, you would not be able to use the images for commercial purposes, but you would to show your work in various formats ( i.e online on website/blog etc). This method is often used by new photographers to build their portfolio - they offer the client a free shoot or images in exchange for the ability to use their images. This form is perfect for that purpose and also has provision for excluding any images that the client is not comfortable in being used.

  • Client contact details
  • Suitable for adults or minors
  • Coverage of where the resulting images may be used by the photographer, including; website, digital and printed promotions, advertising, internet and social media

COMMERCIAL MODEL RELASE

The Commercial Model release covers shoots where the photographer is able to use the images for whatever purpose they wish, including selling them for monetary gain, in exchange for supplying the client with specified compensation.

This could be free images ( know as "time for pictures" ie TPF), a free shoot or monetary compensation. The release gives you the flexibility to input whatever you agreed with your client. The key difference between this form and the Standard Model release is that the Commerical release allows you to use the images for any purpose, including selling them, whilst the Standard release only gives you permission to use the images for portfolio purposes.
